Cancer Insurance

What is supplemental cancer insurance? If you were to be diagnosed with cancer, you might incur additional out-of-pocket expenses that your hospital or medical insurance won't pay. Supplemental insurance specifically for cancer will help you pay expenses such as deductibles and copayments, costs that most insurance plans require you to pay. It also helps cover you for daily living expenses.

Nearly 1.4 million Americans will be diagnosed with cancer this year. (1) Many patients may face devastating financial consequences.

Your standard health insurance will cover many of your medical bills, but nearly 65% of the cost of cancer is nonmedical in 2005, such as copayments, deductibles and daily living expenses, to name a few. (3)

Supplemental cancer insurance is designed to help pay for the nonmedical costs of cancer. When you consider the fact that in the United States men have a lifetime risk of nearly 1-in-2 and women have more than a 1-in-3 risk of developing cancer, additional coverage can be beneficial. (1)

Cancer insurance lessens the financial strain by providing you with immediate benefit. Some plans offer an annual wellness benefit and cover alternative cancer therapies.

Protect you and your family from the expenses of cancer beyond the doctor's office.

Heart and Stroke Insurance

Heart/stroke insurance helps pay the expenses your major medical plan doesn't cover, such as copayments, deductibles and even your daily living expenses.

It can provide cash coverage for your health-related needs and it also covers many incidental expenses, such as transportation and lodging.

About every 29 seconds an American will suffer a heart attack; a stroke about every 53 seconds. (4)

Supplemental Hospital Insurance

A stay in the hospital can be expensive. But your first concern should be for care and treatment.

That's why there's Hospital Secure from Conseco Insurance Company. It's supplemental insurance for the expenses associated with a hospital stay.

After all, costs are rising, and your current coverage could leave you responsible for your co-payments, deductibles, transportation expenses and more.

Supplemental Accident Insurance

Accidents will happen. When they do, the outcome can devastate your finances.

Your major medical plan may only cover routine medical costs. Sick leave may cover lost wages. But neither is designed to cover the large out-of-pocket expenses associated with accidental injury. And remember that workers' compensation applies only if you're injured on the job.

Critical Illness Insurance

AssurityBalance® Critical Illness pays a lump sum benefit upon the first confirmed diagnosis of a covered illness or medical procedure. The odds that you'll suffer a catastrophic accident or illness are high. Are you financially prepared if you don't beat the odds?

You don't plan to be diagnosed with cancer or a critical illness. What would you do if this happened? Both Colonial Life's Cancer and Critical Illness Insurance plans are designed to supplement your major medical coverage to help you with the high cost of cancer and critical illness treatment.

With Cancer or Critical Illness Insurance from Colonial Life, you can take the next step after diagnosis with comfort and reassurance. Benefits from a Colonial Life cancer or critical illness plan will help you pay the following types of out-of-pocket expenses:

  • Home health care or caregivers you may require.
  • Home or automobile modifications.
  • Mortgage, utility bills and other everyday living expenses.
  • Travel costs to and from treatment centers.

Critical illness insurance is medical insurance that pays a lump-sum benefit upon diagnosis of a critical illness or condition. A critical illness insurance payout helps you avoid the financial strain a major illness can create so you can focus on your recovery. It gives you the freedom to:

  • Get the treatment you want
  • Spend time with your family and friends
  • Keep your home and other assets
